Woven paper gift topper

How-to
♥ Cut some strips of colored paper. Mine were 0.5cm wide. They need to be long enough to wrap around your gift. If you have a paper shredder then this might make the job even quicker!
♥ Line up your vertical strips on a table top…you can use a bit of sticky tape at one end to hold them in place while you weave away.
♥ Weave the horizontal strips into the vertical strips.
♥ Using a bit of sticky tape secure to your gift. Job done!

I also made a rainbow gift topper….no surprise there then!

DIY Gift | CREPE + LACE FAVOR CRACKERS

Supplies:

Cardboard tube about 4-5 inches long (paper towel rolls and wrapping paper tubes are good sources)
Lace fabric
Crepe Paper
Scissors
Double stick tape
Very sturdy thread or twine

Instructions:

1. Begin by cutting lace fabric and crepe paper into rectangles. The shortest side of the rectangle should be long enough to wrap around the tube - usually about 6-7 inches. The longest side should be the length of the cardboard tube plus an additional 6-8 inches. Once you've determined your dimensions write them down so all your favors will be uniform.

2. Wrap crepe paper and lace fabric around tube so that the lace fabric faces outward as shown. Secure with double stick tape. Then tie one end with twine. Fill with candy or other favor item and tie remaining edge closed.

3. Optional: Add stars or other adornments to all or a few of the favor crackers.

metallic wrapping paper

i love the high & low combination of brown kraft paper with metallic leaf. earlier in the week i mentioned that once you start applying bits of leaf here and there you won’t stop. it’s just addicting. when you give a gift that looks special it creates an enjoyable experience for that person. it’s totally worth it. what you will need (for paper):

brown kraft paper (or reused brown paper bags)
imitation silver metallic leaf
imitation gold metallic leaf
size (adhesive for leaf)
dish sponge
scissor
paint brush
twine
twigs

1) cut your sponge into various circle shapes (or other shapes). dab
the sponge in the size and press onto paper. it’s up to you what kind
of pattern you want to make. random or repeated. have fun with it. it
dries clear (but slightly darker so you will know where the adhesive
is). set aside let dry.

2) when it’s dry (5-10 minutes) take your leaf and press onto the
size. the leaf will stick to it and you will be able to brush the
excess away. you can utilize the excess by brushing it onto your next
“adhesive shape”.

3) instead of ribbon i chose to use twine & twigs that i tipped with
gold. (repeat step 1 & 2)

4) when your paper is dry you’re ready to wrap you’re gift. tie a bow
with the twine and place your twigs in the center. you will have a
beautiful gift that the person you’re giving it to will feel guilty
for opening. (it’s ok, that just means you’ve done a good job.)

How to Make Your Chocolates “Bloom”

What You’ll Need:

Crepe paper ( or tissue paper)

Ribbon (1/8 of an inch wide)

Wired millinery leaves

Foil wrapped chocolates

Scissors

Low temp glue gun

Instructions

1. Begin by cutting a 6″ (approximately) square of crepe paper.

2. Fold in half, then into quarters. (See figure 1)

3. Fold in half again to make a triangle (see figure 2) and then fold in half again. (It’s just like your folding a snowflake).

4. Cut a rounded “V” in the non pointy end of the triangle. (see figure 3)

5. Unfold your crepe paper. It should be shaped like a daisy. ( see figure 4)

6. Put a foil-wrapped chocolate in the center of the daisy. (see figure 5).

7. Pull the petals up around the chocolate, and tie a ribbon just above the top of the chocolate.

8. Drop into the candy cup, and fluff your paper flower petals. Add a wired leaf around the neck to complete.

9. Arrange on a dish or place a bloom at each place setting.
